You’ve found probably the most charming student place in Trondheim!
The Student Cabin is placed close to Gråkallen hill in the middle of Bymarka, the forrest west of Trondheim. The Cabin has been run by students, for students for over a hundred years.
We are open every other weekend in even numbered weeks during the semester. We serve lunch and dinner and most weekends also offer overnight accommodation.
At the Cabin we wish to offer a nice place to be also during the current virus situation. We have established safety measures and will be open every other weekend during the semester, in addition to exclusive rental events. Follow us here or on Facebook for information about opening weekends.
Studenterhytta is open and serve food every other weekend, in even numbered weeks. Saturday we serve pancake lunch and later dinner. We offer overnight accommodation as a package with all meals included, and the bar is open until midnight. Sunday we have breakfast for those staying over and lunch serving. We have a limited number of beds and everyone who wish to stay over must therefore pre-book.
Information about each weekend, opening hours and booking link is put in the menu on the right and on Facebook.
For infection control we kindly ask all visitors when arriving to put their contact info in the visitors list in the hallway. All info will be deleted after 10 days.
NTNUI groups, student organizations and others can book The Cabin for events, hiking days or other social activities outside our opening hours. Is your group interested in booking? See under Booking. If the group just want to visit during our opening hours you are of course welcome. Give us a heads up, so we can plan enough food.
To get here you can go by bus 26 from Kongens gate to Skistua. The cabin lies 200 m past Skistua. You can also go by bike or car, or you can take the tram to Lian and take a nice walk (4,5 km) up to The Cabin. See the road description.
We are always looking for volunteers to help out at the cabin, running the kitchen, doing maintenance, planning events and much more. If you’re interested in joining and help run one of student Trondheims most traditional institutions, check out our positions and how you apply at Join us!
Hope to see you at the cabin!
